Arizona Sports & Entertainment Commission Announces Week 5 Medallion Recipients for 2026 Ed Doherty Award

PHOENIX (September 23, 2026) — The Arizona Sports & Entertainment Commission (ASEC) and its managed entity, the Grand Canyon State Gridiron Club (GCSGC), have announced the recipients of the 2026 Week 5 Ed Doherty Award Medallions, recognizing outstanding performances from Week 5 action.

The Week 5 honorees include Jaiden Hart-Rodriguez (Sr. ATH, Tempe); Zarin Robbins (Sr. WR/DB/KR, Ironwood Ridge); Dylan Brush (So. RB, Horizon); Tanner Austin (Sr. WR, Sunrise Mountain); Isaac Massey (Sr. WR/DB, ALA Gilbert North); Asher Ward (Jr. RB, Willcox); Mikey Barth (Sr. K, Basha); Luke Franklin (Sr. OLB, Centennial); and Sebastian Castro (Sr. QB, Rio Rico).

Each nominee will be presented with his medallion at his respective school this week and is now in the running for the 2026 Ed Doherty Award, annually recognizing Arizona's most outstanding high school football player. This year's recipient will be announced at a special luncheon for the Top 10 nominees following the conclusion of the season.

Nine student-athletes earned Week 5 Ed Doherty Award Medallions and entered the qualified award pool.

Jaiden Hart-Rodriguez

Tempe High School

Caught six passes for 171 yards and three touchdowns, added five tackles and one interception, then converted the game-winning extra point in Tempe's 33–32 victory over La Joya Community.

Zarin Robbins

Ironwood Ridge High School

Recorded six receptions for 177 yards and three touchdowns, an 86-yard kickoff-return touchdown and a 19-yard fumble-recovery touchdown in a 47–13 win over Casa Grande.

Horizon High School

Rushed 23 times for 407 yards and six touchdowns in Horizon's 55–36 victory over Sunnyslope.

Sunrise Mountain High School

Caught nine passes for 243 yards and three touchdowns and added 22 rushing yards on three carries in a 37–32 win over Arizona College Prep.

Caught 10 passes for 102 yards and one touchdown and recorded six tackles, two interceptions and two passes defended in a 33–30 win over Desert Edge.

Rushed eight times for 240 yards and four touchdowns and added six tackles and one forced fumble in Willcox's 54–0 victory over Tombstone.

Basha High School

Went 3-for-3 on field-goal attempts, including a 55-yarder, in Basha's 30–22 victory over Liberty.

Centennial High School

Recorded 11 tackles, including eight solo tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks, plus three quarterback hurries in Centennial's 20–7 victory over Mesa.

Completed 17 of 23 passes for 372 yards and four touchdowns and rushed four times for 91 yards and one touchdown in Rio Rico's 48–7 victory over Amphitheater.
