Arizona Sports & Entertainment Commission Announces Week 6 Medallion Recipients for 2026 Ed Doherty Award

Brophy College Prep, Hamilton, Ironwood Ridge, North Canyon, Queen Creek, Snowflake, St. Mary’s, Thunderbird, Tombstone and Westwood are home to medallion recipients and candidates for Arizona's top prep football player

PHOENIX (September 29, 2026) — The Arizona Sports & Entertainment Commission (ASEC) and its managed entity, the Grand Canyon State Gridiron Club (GCSGC), have announced the recipients of the 2026 Week 6 Ed Doherty Award Medallions, recognizing outstanding performances from Week 6 action.

The Week 6 honorees include Brenner Green (Sr. RB, Snowflake); Jacob Knauer (Sr. MLB, Ironwood Ridge); Lachlan Geier (Sr. DL, Queen Creek); Billy Lewis (Sr. DB, St. Mary’s); Xavier Lopez (Sr. RB, Tombstone); Roman Oliver (So. WR, Hamilton); Karlos Romandia (Sr. QB, North Canyon); Josh Anderson (Jr. LB, Brophy College Prep); Daryl Little (Jr. RB, Thunderbird); and Gavin Gleave (Jr. QB, Westwood).

Each nominee will be presented with his medallion at his respective school and is now in the running for the 2026 Ed Doherty Award, annually recognizing Arizona's most outstanding high school football player. This year's recipient will be announced at a special luncheon for the Top 10 nominees following the conclusion of the season.

Ten student-athletes earned Week 6 Ed Doherty Award Medallions and entered the qualified award pool.

Snowflake High School

Rushed 12 times for 179 yards and four touchdowns, added a 59-yard touchdown reception and returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown against Marcos de Niza.

Recorded 23 tackles, including five solo stops and one tackle for loss, while adding one sack and one interception against Canyon del Oro.

Queen Creek High School

Totaled 16 tackles, including 6.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks, while adding four quarterback hurries against Sandra Day O’Connor.

Intercepted four passes for 132 return yards while recording seven tackles and one pass defended. He also added six receptions for 48 yards.

Tombstone High School

Rushed 27 times for 241 yards and two touchdowns while adding three receptions for 86 yards and one touchdown against Palo Verde. Defensively, he recorded seven tackles, including three tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks, along with five quarterback hurries and one fumble recovery.

Completed 13 of 17 passes for 251 yards and four touchdowns while rushing six times for 32 yards and two touchdowns against Desert Ridge. He also added a three-yard reception.

The Ed Doherty Award is Arizona’s highest individual high school football honor, presented annually to the state’s most outstanding player on and off the field. The award recognizes exceptional athletic ability, diligence, perseverance, hard work and integrity, along with a commitment to academics, community and school pride.
